First International Silat Summer Camp in Malaysia July 2018

Salam hormat and Hello to all Pesilat and martial artists around the world.  
I am proud to announce on behalf of Prof Jak Othman and Harimau Berantai TV,  the first International Silat Summer Camp in Malaysia is on. This is history in the making; six World number ones supreme Grandmaster of six renowned Malaysia silat styles has agreed to teach at the camp.

Mahaguru Haji Sani Zainal Abidin of Silat Kuntau Tekpi, Mahaguru Haji Awang Daud of Silat Seni Gayong ADMAA, Mahaguru Haji Alias Jamil of Silat Gayong Harimau, and Mahaguru Haji Zainal Shiekh Nawab of Silat Tua and our own Srikandi Hajah Ramintan Samingon of Silat Harimau Berantai will be teaching in this camp.

The camp will cover special content like legendary Keris, Tekpi (King of all weapons), Tongkat (staff), Kerambit, Kapak kecil (small axe), Belati (dagger), and Sarong and for the first time Ekor Pari the stingray tail. Other content will be Empty Hand Silat from striking (Pukulan) to Grappling (Kuncian) and ground fighting.

Six Mahaguru of six different styles of Silat will be teaching in one summer camp! Six world number ones supreme Grandmasters have agreed to teach in July 2018 in this camp. This is history in the making for silat and Malaysia too.  This is a dream comes true for even someone like me. Just Imagine. The heirs themselves, the source in the home of Silat will teach you in a summer camp. Come and learn Silat at the highest level in paradise.

If you love martial arts and especially silat this is one camp you do not want to miss. You have experience Silat camps in USA & Europe, the Indonesian camps and the Bruneian camp. It is time to explore Silat styles in Malaysia. Nothing beats the unique opportunity that we are offering this July 2018 camp. Most camps teach only a style of silat with a few guest instructors, this camp will feature 6 Mahagurus, the living legends themselves who will be teaching you.

I went to see all these Mahagurus, talked and convinced them to do for you! Yes, the first International Silat Summer camp 2018 is all set to go from 16 July -27 July 2017. Come to my country Malaysia, one of the home of Silat and train with the sources. It is the safest country in Southeast Asia. The people are friendly and welcoming.  We all speak English that makes communication easy. Travel is easy, shopping, accommodation and foods are relatively cheap.  
 
Each Mahaguru is special.  In this  2 weeks long  awesome summer camp, the fighting science of  the legendary keris , the unique Tekpi (Trisula - Sai), the bold Tongkat (walking stick),  the deadly Sarong, the world famous Kerambit, the feared Kapak Kecil (small axe) and  for the first time the Ekor Pari (the stingray tail) will be revealed. On top of all that, the empty hand fighting science of silat Pukulan (striking) and Kuncian (grappling) too. 
The camp details

The event will at two locations. The first location will be in Pangkor Island, a beautiful coral island in Perak, west course of Peninsula Malaysia (West Malaysia ). The second location will be in Selangor at my studio, Jak Othman Kickboxing & Martial Arts Studio in Subang Jaya, Selangor
 
The camp kicks off in Pangkor Island a famous holiday spot with a special Theme: ‘Sun-Sea-Sand–Silat’ with the World No 1. Mahaguru.  We will propose recommended hotels details soon too. This first part of the event will kick off on 16 July 2017 and ends on 21 July 2017, participants will checkout and proceed to Subang Jaya in Selangor (just next to Kuala Lumpur) and the part 2 of event will kick off on the 22 July 2017 at my studio. 
In ‘Sun-Sea-Sand-Silat’, each Mahaguru is given one day to teach his 2 parts sessions which is going to be total to 6 hours. The first session will kick off immediately after breakfast at 9am until 2pm on the sandy beaches.  The second session will be from 6pm -7.30pm.  Each Mahaguru will choose his own topics to teach and they are encouraged not to cross topics with another. The proposed schedule will be as follows and it subject to change depending on the availability of the Mahaguru.  

16 July 2018 
Mahaguru Haji Sani Zainal Abidin of Silat Kuntau tekpi will teach the Tekpi – Trisula – Sai. This weapon is sometimes known as the King of all weapons.
 
17 July 2018
Mahaguru Haji Awang Daud of Silat Seni Gayong ADMAA will teach the Sarong – Cindai. It is a jealously guarded silat weapon.  Come and learn the secret.
 
18 July 2018 
Mahaguru Haji Alias Jamil of Silat Gayong Harimau will teach the Keris. You are not a silat warrior if you do not know the science of this weapon.  Learn fighting science of the weapon of the Pendekar!
 
19 July 2018

Kuncian (Silat grappling methods) with Mahaguru Prof Mazlan Man (Silat Kalam Utama Malaysia). There is no way of tapping out once trapped in these deadly techniques.
 
21 July 2018  
Kerambit with Srikandi Hajah Ramintan Ramingon (Silat Harimau Berantai) and Prof Jak Othman.
 
The second location will at Jak Othman Kickboxing & Martial Arts Studio (JOKMAS) with the following address 5-3, Jalan SS15/7, Subang Jaya, 47500, Selangor, Malaysia. The theme for the second part of the camp is The way of Harimau Berantai, Gayong Harimau & Tomoi. Here the participants will do the Kerambit, Belati, Kapak Kecil, empty hands Pukulan and Kuncian too. On top of all these, Prof Jak will introduce the ekor pari the stingray tail fighting methods. Prof Jak Othman and his instructors will conduct part 2 camp.  Srikandi Hajah Ramintan the Mahaguru of Harimau Bernatai Silat is the guest of honor.

The first location ‘Sun–Sand-Sea–Silat’ theme will be at Teluk Nipah (Nipah Bay) in Pangkor Island on the 16-22 July 2018. Please look and book your accommodation online at Nipah Bay in Pangkor Island from the 15 -22 July 2018. If you do not book at Teluk Nipah but at other locations on the Island there are many local transports for hire and rent too. Best book at Teluk Nipah because the camp will be on the beach of Teluk Nipah. These are the recommended hotels/resorts.

Who and who?

Mahaguru Haji Alias Jamil (Top Left in picture above)
He is the supreme Grandmaster of Silat Gayong Harimau a silat style that originated from Kedah, the 1st ancient Malay Empire. The world has seen the art through his student Prof. Jak Othman. You have seen the apprentice in action; it is time for you to experience the hand of the master himself. Gayong Harimau is a unique silat style base on the fighting science of the Keris, the silat warrior weapon. In this camp Mahaguru Haji Alias will teach the way of the Keris. He will reveal the history, philosophies, strategies and combative methods that made the keris the weapon of ancient silat warriors. Come and discover why the Keris is the weapon of the Pendekar (Warriors).

This Mahaguru is internationally renowned supreme Grandmaster; he has many students across the globe teaching Silat Kuntau tekpi. This style originated from the palace of the ancient Kedah Empire. For hundreds of years, the warriors of Kedah Empires have fought countless battles against to foreign powers. One of the secret of the glorious empire was Silat Kuntau tekpi.    Tekpi is the iron truncheon of a Malay Silat. Kuntau tekpi stylists are the specialist of this weapon.  The Mahaguru will be teaching the tekpi-trisula-tjabang in this camp just for you. Find out why the tekpi is considered by many silat experts as the king of all weapons.

This Srikandi @lady warrior is the supreme Grandmaster of Silat Harimau Berantai, which originated from ancient mid Java. She is Prof Jak Othman aunt and teacher of this unique and respected style of Silat. It was from her the Prof learned the kerambit, kapak kecil, ekor pari (stingray tail), belati (knife), Pancawangan sakti (bladed tonfa) and many more women silat weapons. She will be at the camp to teach some of these unique weapons of Silat Harimau Berantai. Supporting her will be Prof Jak, Pendekar Wan Yusmar, Pendekar Azilan, Pendekar Ed Chard Guru Ammir & Jurulatih M. Zaid. 
 
Mahaguru Haji Zainal Sheik Nawab (Bottom Left in picture above)
He is the Mahaguru of Silat Tua (ancient) base in Penang Island Malaysia, another silat style of the 1st century Kedah Empire. This man is not new to international martial arts community. The Mahaguru already has students travelling from around the world to train here with him frequently. In this camp, this maestro has chosen to teach the fight science of the Tongkat (walking stick). Therefore, sticking fighting lovers out there does not miss this camp! Come and discover the fighting secrets of the tongkat. He will also be teaching the way of ‘kayu sejengkal ‘, one of Malay ladies’ most feared secret weapon for close range combat too. You have seen the kerambit, now come and learn the way of the kayu sejengkal.

Mahaguru Prof. Mazlan Man (Bottom Middle in picture above)​
This Maestro is the no. 1 Grandmaster of the Malaysian Kalam Utama Silat Association. He is the direct student of the late Mahaguru Yahya Said the modern day heir to the art. It is believe that the art originated from Persian wrestling which the Persian traders brought to the Malay world in the 1st century to the palace of the ancient Kedah Empire. It became famous in among the royalties and later taught to the warriors of the kingdom.  Kalam is all about kuncian, the grappling methods of silat. A very effective and unique system, created for the battlefield. Come and experience why Silat Kalam Utama is one of most respected style from Malaysia.
 
Mahaguru Haji Awang Daud (Bottom Right in picture above)​​
This Grandmaster is a student of the founder of Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia, the late Mahaguru Datuk Meor Abdul Rahman. He was one of the main man behind the creation the Seni Gayong syllabus and taught the art across Malaysia in the 1960’s. He is the icon of the style which originated from the Celebes.  Many Seni Gayong masters today are original students of this maestro. Today, he is the supreme Grandmaster of Awang Daud Martial Arts Academy ( ADMAA) base in Gurun, Kedah. He will teach you the fight science of the sarong. Come and discover the way of sarong, silat most respected weapon of self-defense. You have seen the Filipino and Indonesian versions; it is time for you to experience the fighting sarong methods of Mahaguru Haji Awang Daud. You may survive to tell the world how awesome the training here with him!  He is a Prof Jak Othman’s Silat Seni Gayong teacher.

Training Fees

​Participants will be charge only the training fee, non-training spouses do not have to pay. The camp training fee is USD$1,400 per head for a total 12 days x 6 hours a day training. with the Mahaguru and Guru. Early birds who book before 1 March 2018 will be given a discount of USD$100 per person, meaning just pay USD $1,300.  We are also offering a special discount for training spouse which is just USD $700 per person.
